14 Jun My 5 Favourite Quick De-Stress Tips
We all have a tendency to get caught up in the busyness of our day to day lives. The constant whirring thoughts of what’s next on our to-do list. The realisation of just how much we have to get done – today, tomorrow, next week………..it’s endless mind chatter. I often hear clients talk about how ‘stressed’ they feel – with no let up.
I’ve talked before about how we have a choice about our state of mind, and that we can choose to be positive. By the same token, we can also learn tips and trick to enable us to feel more in control and less ‘stressed’. Sound good? Read on!
I’ve put together 5 of my favourite De-Stress tips for you. They are quick and easy, no fluff – one of them just might be the one to help you feel more grounded, less stressed, more present and happy!
Write everything down. This is always a major win for me. Get it out of your head and down on paper. Whatever ‘it’ is that’s clogging up your thoughts; if you write it all down it will clear your head and allow to relax a bit because you then have nothing to remember / or nothing to worry about forgetting! Or perhaps you just want to vent about something so you can get back to your positive flow – go for it!
Play your favourite song. Play it loud. Sing, dance, have fun and feel free.

Say no sometimes. Feeling stressed because you’re over-committed? I do have those clients who are people pleasers. They want to help others, it’s important to them, and is a part of their values. However! When that level of saying ‘yes’ means you end up feeling out of control and in a state of stress, it’s gotta be time to say ‘no’. Some feel very uncomfortable with doing this, but there are ways of saying it in the nicest possible way, without offending. So, think really hard next time someone asks for your help – must you do it? Must you do it now? Can you put it on a list of things you would like to do for other people and then schedule it in for some time when you have more time?
Not a to-do list, but a done list. We tend to create these insanely long to-do lists. They’re overwhelming. They often do not get done. They’re de-motivating. So, I challenge you to experiment with a ‘done list’. At the end of the day, write yourself a long list of everything you got done that day. EVERYTHING. WOW! Aren’t you amazing?!! Well done gorgeous! Now celebrate and relax!
Move!! I love to power walk. LOVE IT. Being outside. Taking in the views of the river. Maybe listening to music.

Being in nature. So therapeutic. What’s your exercise of choice? It is the most natural way to de-stress and highly under-utilised.
